چکیده

The origin of the recently reported systematic bias in the spectroscopic temperature of galaxy clusters is investigated using cosmological hydrodynamical simulations. We find that the local inhomogeneities of the gas temperature and density, after corrected for the global radial profiles, have nearly a universal distribution that resembles the log-normal function. Based on this log-normal approximation for the fluctuations in the intra-cluster medium, we develop an analytical model that explains the bias in the spectroscopic temperature discovered recently. We conclude that the multiphase nature of the intra-cluster medium not only from the radial profiles but also from the local inhomogeneities plays an essential role in producing the systematic bias. The Radial Dependence of Temperature and Iron Abundance

Context. The origin and evolution of the intracluster medium (ICM) are still not fully understood. A better understanding is not only interesting in its own right, but it is also important for modeling hierarchical structure growth and for using cluster surveys to determine cosmological parameters. Aims. To determine if there exists any evidence for evolution in the temperature or iron abundanc...

We report on spectroscopic imaging observations of the nearby (z=0.022) galaxy cluster 3C 129 performed with the ACIS detector on board of the Chandra X-ray observatory. Applying a deprojection analysis which fully takes into account the spatially resolved X-ray energy spectra we investigate the radial variation of temperature and particle density of the Intracluster Medium (ICM). While earlier...

The Validation of the Thermal Regions in Iran with an Emphasis on the Identification of the Climatic Cycles

Background: The present study aimed to validate the thermal regions in Iran with an emphasis on the identification of the climatic cycles during the recent half-century. Methods: Data on daily temperature were extracted for 383 synoptic stations of Iran Meteorological Organization. For the zoning of the temperatures of Iran, multivariate statistical techniques (cluster analysis and discriminan...

Bias from gas inhomogeneities in the pressure profiles as measured from X-ray and SZ observations

X-ray observations of galaxy clusters provide emission measure weighted spectra, arising from a range of density and temperature fluctuations in the intra-cluster medium (ICM). This is fitted to a single temperature plasma emission model to provide an estimate of the gas density and temperature, which are sensitive to the gas inhomogeneities. Therefore, X-ray observations yield a potentially bi...

Numerical study of heat gradient and crossing energy to around building walls containing phase change materials in Kashan temperature conditions

The application of phase change materials (PCM) in the variant parts of building because of the high capacity these materials, lead to an improvement in temperature conditions and reduction in energy consumption. Due to the high dependency of the performance of these materials to the ambient temperature fluctuations, their applications in climates with extreme temperature fluctuations has a sig...
